Linn County, OR. — Rural Linn County residents will soon have the option to build Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) on their properties, following approval by Commissioners Roger Nyquist and Sherrie Sprenger at the board’s November 4 meeting.
The commissioners reconvened a public hearing that began October 28 to finalize Code Text Amendments allowing ADUs in rural areas, provided property owners meet both county and state requirements.
Written comments were accepted through November 3, with three residents submitting feedback on proposed restrictions, including the two-acre minimum lot size, the 100-foot placement limit from the main home, and the 900-square-foot maximum unit size.
Planning Manager Alyssa Boles clarified that the county’s proposal follows Oregon Revised Statutes on all three points. Commissioners Nyquist and Sprenger voted to adopt the amendments, which will take effect 21 days after formal signing at a future meeting.
