
Portland, OR. – Official Release: The suspect who fired shots last night in the Mt. Scott Arleta Neighborhood was booked on gun charges and warrants. Jeremy Michael Austin Clark, 26, was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Discharging a Firearm in the City (city code, 6 counts), Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm in a Public Place (city code), a probation violation detainer, and multiple warrants.
A suspect in a Mt. Scott Arleta Neighborhood shots fired incident was barricaded in a vehicle before surrendering to PPB tactical teams.
On Thursday, December 12, 2024 at 10:01 p.m., Portland Police Officers assigned to East Precinct responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Southeast 72nd Avenue and Southeast Harold Street (case number 24-317378). Officers found evidence of gunfire, but no one injured. Preliminary investigation suggested the suspect, an adult male, was inside a pickup truck parked at the intersection. Officers asked the suspect to come out, but he was uncooperative.
The incident commander activated the Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) to bring additional resources to help address the armed barricaded suspect. The area was closed to ensure safety of the community. The PPB K9 unit and the Unmanned Aircraft Systems were utilized.
At 11:45 p.m., the suspect surrendered to officers and was arrested. The perimeter is clearing and roads are reopening.
A gun believed to be used in the shooting was recovered as evidence (photo). The investigation is continuing and the suspect will be identified after he is charged with crimes.
