Hood River, OR. – An update has been released on the Hood River – White Salmon bridge replacement project.
Design continues to advance: Kiewit, the bridge designer/builder, is currently developing the designs for the new bridge. This work includes incorporating the design recommendations by the Bridge Aesthetics Committee, where possible. Preliminary design concepts will be available this November.
Bike/pedestrian lanes are under development: The project team is holding a focus group meeting with local bike and pedestrian advocates in the coming weeks to make sure early designs for the bike and pedestrian lanes and other amenities meet the community’s needs.
Stay tuned for an open house this November: We’ll be sharing early design concepts with the public in mid-November. These concepts will give a preview of the bridge type and material, as well as lane configuration and connections to the existing roadways. The goal will be to share progress and ask for feedback on the planned designs.
September event postponed: You may recall we originally had planned an open house for September to review bike/pedestrian options on the bridge. Based on where development of those concepts are, we decided to push this event to November. At that point, these concepts will be more fully formed and we will be able to provide more complete information.
