This evening, the Canby School Board refused to accept an amendment to the district policy. The additional text, presented by @turningpointusa from @CanbyHighSchool97013 would help protect our youth. This “Student Rights” amendment would allow the child to request a trusted adult to be present in planned “meetings.”
I believe that if a child feels uncomfortable to be alone with an adult, in a private meeting, we should listen to them. The board comments that I heard tonight were contrary to the belief that THE CHILD SHOULD COME FIRST
