
January 8, 2024 – Oregon Senate Republicans: Leader Knopp Announces Staff for 2024 Session
Today, Senate Republican Leader Tim Knopp (R-Bend) is announcing his team of staff for the upcoming legislative session. There are 3 new hires. “We are pleased to welcome the newest staff to round out our policy team led by Legislative Director Justin Brecht. They bring over 80 years of collective experience in areas of expertise including contracts and negotiations, housing, early childhood education, behavioral health, and health care,” said Leader Knopp. “I know they will be great additions to our incredibly experienced and talented team and compliment the work supporting our members.” New Staff:
William Martin, Policy Analyst
William hails from Washington State. He recently received a Master of Jurisprudence from the University of Washington, School of Law, and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Western Washington University. He served in the United States Marine Corps as a Combat Engineer Officer throughout Asia. He was awarded an Impact Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Impact Navy Commendation Medal for his effective leadership and exceptional dedication to duty during deployment. William currently serves as a Captain in the Reserves.
Mike Ryan, Policy Analyst
Mike first worked in the Senate Republican Office as Chief of Staff in the mid-1980’s. He went on to work for the State Treasury and Department of Corrections before serving as a Marion County Commissioner from 1998 to 2003. He left office to lead a Detroit/Chicago-based national nonprofit providing at-risk and gang-affiliated youth with community peer mentoring opportunities and in-classroom educational tools. Mike also worked as a local community outreach and development director focusing on acquiring supportive housing for long-term foster children.
Monica Davis, Senior Advisor & Policy Analyst
Monica has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Early Childhood Education from Liberty University specializing in addictions and crisis intervention. She has worked with homeless and runaway youth as an Ameri-Corps outreach worker and provided advocacy and support to survivors of sexual assault as a coordinator of a Sexual Assault Center. She was also the Executive Director of Brown County NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness) in Wisconsin. Monica recently completed her MBA from Willamette University Atkinson Graduate School of Management and will graduate in the spring.
