November 1, 2023 – IBEW Local 89: Ratification Vote Results
We are pleased to announce that as of today, the tentative agreement with the Oregon Assembly has been approved by nearly 80% of the voting LA’s!
By ratifying this Agreement, the Oregon LA’s have become the first in the nation to secure a union contract and IBEW Local 89 eagerly anticipates welcoming the LA’s into our union family. This historic agreement ensures that we will have the protections and benefits we deserve, while providing a stronger voice in our workplace.
This achievement would not be possible without the collaborative efforts of the dedicated workers involved. The contract establishes a platform for worker representation, empowering LA’s to actively participate in shaping their working conditions.
We commend the Oregon Legislative Assistants for their commitment to advocating for their rights and creating positive change within their profession. This step sends a powerful message to other legislative assistants across the nation, demonstrating the potential for improved working conditions and a stronger voice through union representation.
